What to do after buying a new computer

If you just bought a new laptop computer three things need to be done right away (if you don't you'll never get around to doing it).

Now if you bought a new system from us we would take care of steps one and two for you and instruct you on how to do number three.  However let's say you didn't buy from us.  We understand that not everyone is as awesome as us and doesn't automatically do this for their customers.

1) Step One

After buying your new laptop plug it in and don't use it for at least 12 hours. Now you might be saying to yourself What the hell are they talking about I just bought this new bad boy I want to start using it now!

Allowing for the laptop battery to fully charge, while in the laptop, before it is turned on for the first time, allows for the battery to fully "season".  This enables it to perform at peak condition.

2) Step Two

Now that you are using your computer you really need to make a set of system backup disks. If your hard drive fails, and they do, so does your ability to restore your computer's operating system.

Most major OEM computer manufactures have some kind of backup tool that allows you to make restore disks in case your laptop hard drive fails.  These tools are typically found preinstalled on your computer's operating system.

We do this as a service for our custmers buying new.  If you bought from somewhere else, we can make that set of disks for you for a nominal fee.

3) Step Three

Send in that warranty registration card!

Some OEM computer manufactures have additional warranty coverage that extends beyond what is typically advertised.  Others will only honour a replacement or repair warranty after the item has been registered.

By filling out the warranty repair card, or using the manufacture's online warranty registration tools you will be covered should something happen to the computer later on down the road.
